Lito and Mark Lapid jump to NPC

Former Senator Lito Lapid and his son, former Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority chief operating officer jumped ship to the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) ahead of the 2019 polls.
The Lapids took their oath Thursday (October 4) before NPC senior party adviser Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.
In a Viber exchange with Senate reporters, Sotto said the older Lapid, who plays a rebel commander in hit TV show “Ang Probinsyano,” would eye a return to the upper chamber in the May 2019 elections.
Lito has been in the “Magic 12” of pre-election polls, ranking 7 to 11 in the latest Pulse Asia survey.
His son, meanwhile, would run as mayor of Porac, Pampanga.
The former senator was with the Lakas – Christian Muslim Democrats of Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, while Mark was with the formerly ruling Liberal Party (LP).
Lito’s last attempt at re-entering politics was a failed mayoralty run in Angeles, Pampanga in 2016. His son, Mark, also failed to clinch a Senate seat when he ran under the LP in the same year.
