Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro “Teddyboy” Locsin is saddened by the death of political operator Pastor “Boy” Saycon, who died Thursday (August 8) at the age of 69.

Locsin paid tribute to Saycon in a series of tweets posted Friday (August 9).

“Boy Saycon, deep friend/adviser died; trusted only his advice,” he said.

Locsin said he is at a loss for words on how to mourn Saycon, whom he described as a “cool insightful adviser.”

“Can’t think how to mourn them except by a long silence. Bye for now, friends contrary and contrarian. How say goodbye to a part of yourself? Boy Saycon took me anywhere I wanted; a professional race car driver, cool insightful adviser. Country’s poorer without him,” he tweeted.

Saycon’s family said he died due to heart complication caused by pneumonia.

A former businessman, Saycon was instrumental in the victory of Fidel Ramos as President in 1992.

He also used to be an ally of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo but they had a falling out over his rift with former First Gentleman Mike Arroyo.

President Rodrigo Duterte had named Saycon as a member of the EDSA People Power Commission in 2018.
