It seems like lawyer Salvador Panelo will not be warming his seat as Chief Presidential Legal Counsel for a long time, if veteran journalist Ellen Tordesillas’ report were to be believed.

Citing sources from the Department of Foreign Affairs, Tordesillas wrote on her blog that Panelo has expressed interest to be appointed the Philippine Ambassador to the United Kingdom.

The post is currently held by Evan Ralph Garcia, a career officer.

Columnist Victor Agustin earlier reported about Panelo’s wish to have a diplomatic post, specifically in “a land where he not only could polish his English but also his fashion eccentricity would be better tolerated.”

Panelo, who first assumed the role of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte’s spokesperson after the May 9 elections, has recently been named as the Chief Presidential Legal Counsel. Taking over his post is former pastor Ernesto Abella.
