Long term view: Angara urges Duterte to outline 10-year plan in SONA
Senator Sonny Angara hopes President Rodrigo Duterte will outline his plans for the country in the next decade in his State of the Nation Address.
Angara said Friday (July 19) that an outline of Duterte’s vision will allow his successor to know how his projects can be sustained beyond 2022.
“The 2020 national budget should lay down the framework for the 10-year development plan for the country. This should result in the next administration building on what the President has achieved and what he started during his term and not the perennial focus on going after its predecessors,” Angara explained.
Other matters that Angara expects to hear from President Duterte include raising the salaries of public school teachers and the creation of more jobs and opportunities for the Filipino people.
Meanwhile, the senator has commended the legacy of President Duterte for fulfilling his promise of waging war against illegal drugs, creating more jobs, building infrastructures and maintaining peace and order in the country.
“We believe the administration has the political will and capability to get things done. We now have the Free tuition Law, Free Irrigation Law and Universal Healthcare Act, all of which will improve the lives of the people, particularly the poor. We would like to see them building on these gains,” Angara said.
