Newly-appointed Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Benhur Abalos Jr. and Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) board member Mark Lapid took their oath of office before President Rodrigo Duterte in Malacañang Palace on Monday.

Abalos replaced retired general Danilo Lim, who died last week, while Lapid was appointed as member of the Board of Directors of TIEZA on January 5.

Abalos, a former mayor of Mandaluyong City, is the son of Benjamin Abalos, Sr., who was himself a chairman of the MMDA and the Commission on Election.

Lapid, on one hand, served as acting general manager of the Philippine Tourism Authority during the Arroyo administration.

He was then reappointed by former President Benigno Aquino III as Chief Executive Officer in 2014. (Photos by Presidential Photographers Division)
