LOOK: Mukhang presidential! Duterte wears luxury watch in meeting with US envoy
President Rodrigo Duterte may have donned a wrinkly barong to his meeting with United States Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Kim, but on his wrist was a watch whose worth could be the downpayment of a car.
A close up of photos from Duterte’s meeting with Kim in Malacañang Wednesday (September 12) showed he was wearing what looked like an IWC watch.
Timepieces by the Swiss luxury watchmaker are typically sold for a minimum of P200,000, with some models fetching eight figures.
Duterte’s fine taste for watches became known when he stepped inside the shop of Swiss luxury watcmaker Jaeger-Le Coultre in Greenbelt 5 last May.
While it was unknown whether the President bought a watch from the boutique, he did purchase a backpack from Tumi, an American brand making pricey suitcases and travel bags.
