LOOK: Papogi moves! Jet skis on board Navy ship for Duterte’s visit to PH Rise
The prospect of President Rodrigo Duterte riding a jet ski to Philippine Rise just became all too real as a number of the water vehicles have been loaded onto the Navy ship which will take him to the undersea plateau Tuesday (May 15).
A Malacañang pool photo showed the jet skis on board BRP Davao del Sur, which Duterte will ride.
The President is expected to be at the Philippine Rise in the afternoon to celebrate the first anniversary of its renaming from Benham Rise. He will also lead the send-off ceremony for the 50 Filipino scientists who conduct research in the area.
The Philippine Rise is a resource-rich undersea plateau located off the coast of Aurora.
Duterte earlier said he wants to visit Philippine Rise to assert the country’s sovereignty over the area.
He said it was easier to go to Philippine Rise than the Spratlys Group of Islands in the West Philippine Sea due to logistical concerns.
“Ang problema ang jet ski kailangan ng gasolina. Eh in the midst sa China Sea wala namang Caltex, wala namang Shell, wala namang Petron. ‘Pag naubos ako ng gasolina, p***. Saan ako, maglutaw-lutaw ako doon?” he said in a press conference on April 29.
