President Rodrigo Duterte took a brief break from his official duties on Friday (Sept. 16) to stand as a principal sponsor at the wedding of Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales’ nephew at the San Agustin Church in Intramuros, Manila.

Aside from Duterte and Morales, other prominent personalities who attended the wedding of Waldo and Regine Carpio were the President’s son, Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos, and businessman Ramon Ang.

While Duterte has vowed to avoid appearing at privately-sponsored events in Metro Manila until the traffic situation improves, he obviously made an exception for Carpio, perhaps because he happens to be related to his daughter by marriage.

Waldo is the brother of Manases Carpio, the husband of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

Morales, meanwhile, is the sister of Waldo and Manases Carpio’s father.
