Loren blames previous admin for Lumad killings. Here’s her theory
Senator Loren Legarda has effectively blamed the previous administration for the killing and harassment of Lumads or the indigenous peoples (IPs) down south.
Legarda, in an interview over at ANC Headstart Thursday, October 1, reckoned that the Lumad atrocities are being carried out by certain rogue groups.
“This could be paramilitary forces, vigilante groups created by EO (Executive Order) under previous admin who ran out of control,” the lady politiko said.
Legarda said the Philippine military under the command of President Benigno Aquino III can’t possibly be behind the IP killings since they would be the “default suspects”.
“Why would the military kill the Lumad when they know the blame would be pinned on them?” she asked.
Legarda likewise doesn’t see the left-leaning New People Army (NPA) as the perpetrators since they are known to coexist peacefully with the Lumads.
At any rate, Legarda acknowledged that killings, harassment, abuses against IPs in the country have been going on.
