President Benigno Aquino III’s partymates laughed off efforts of the so-called National Transformation Council (NTC) to have Aquino ousted from his post.
Liberal Party Secretary General and Samar Representative Mel Senen Sarmiento expressed doubt that the public will support the group composed of “political has-beens” mostly allied with former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
“Why would our people support a group of political has-beens who have done nothing to help our nation to bring down a leader who has done a lot for them? That wouldn’t make sense,” Sarmiento said.
“They (NTC) have no credibility and have no moral basis to be calling for President Aquino’s ouster. Buking na sila ng mga tao,” he added.
Iloilo Representative Jerry Trenas, for his part, said that the anti-Aquino group lacked the numbers to have the President ousted.
“They would be lucky if they can gather enough people to fill a small gym in their call for another people power to remove President Aquino from office,” he said.
