Madaldal kasi! Tolentino reprimanded after revealing P1.6B hike in 2020 House budget

Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano recently has reportedly reprimanded Committee on Accounts chair Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino (Cavite) after manifesting about the supposed P1.6 billion increase in the budget of the House of Representatives for 2020.
Politiko learned from a congressional insider that Cayetano was not pleased with Tolentino’s manifestation that the P1,598,765,432 increase in the budget of the House of Representatives for 2020 will be used to address the additional deputy speakers elected under the 18th Congress.
“There are lots of increase in our expenses for 2020 including equipment, new offices, additional deputy speakers, and lots of expenses really,” said Tolentino during the budget deliberations for the proposed P14-billion budget of the Lower House last September 20.
Cayetano reportedly got irked by Tolentino since the issue for additional P1.6 billion budget for the House was used by Sen. Panfilo Lacson as his basis in his claim that the House-approved P4.1-trillion General Appropriations Bill (GAB) under House Bill No. 4288 is heavily loaded with pork insertions from congressmen.
Lacson earlier claimed that each of the 22 deputy speakers will receive an additional P1.6 billion allotments while each regular congressman will get P700-million of worth of various project allotments for their respective districts and constituents.
An October 3 article published in daily broadsheet Malaya also claimed that House Committee on Ways and Means chair and Albay Rep. Salceda got “scolded” by Cayetano” when he told Malacañang reporters last month that each congressional district will have P100-million worth of allocations under the House-approved GAB for next year.
