President Rodrigo Duterte showed off his menacing side Monday (Feb. 6) when he called on bilyonaryos to pay the right amount of taxes.
Just a few minutes before leaving the inauguration of a garden at Malacanang Park, Duterte told the attendees– whom he described as simple people– that he uses a different kind of language when he’s around wealthy businessmen.
Seemingly addressing these bilyonaryos, the President said: “P***** i** kayo, bumayad kayo ‘pag hindi, patayin ko kayo. You pay your taxes and pay it correctly because we need it to run government.”
After the event, Duterte was scheduled to meet wealthy businessmen such as Manny V. Pangilinan and Lance Gokongwei at the Philippine International Convention Center for the launch of the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s tax campaign for 2017.
Last year, the President warned that he will name big-time businesses which fail to pay the right amount of taxes, similar to the shame campaign he used in his administration’s war against drugs.
