Magdalo rep: ‘I believe drug council will set aside politics, give Robredo a chance’
Magdalo party-list Manuel Cabochan III on Thursday said he believes members of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs would act professionally and set aside politics to welcome Vice President Leni Robredo after she accepted the offer to serve as their co-chair.
“Sinusuportahan ko ang desisyon ni Vice President Leni Robredo. It was a courageous act for her to accept the challenge to become the co-Chair of ICAD amid the worries regarding the motive and sincerity of the appointment,” he said.
“Ang pagkakatalaga sa ICAD ay isa pa ring pagkakataon para magkaroon ng ibang approach at policy changes lalo na sa usapin ng mga patayan sa drug war, pagpapalaya sa mga druglords at alleged involvement ng police sa drug trade,” Cabochan said.
“I hope that with the appointment of VP Leni there would be more emphasis on a drug war anchored on rule of law and respect for human rights,” he added.
“I believe that the members of the ICAD are professional enough to set aside politics and give VP Leni the chance to perform her duty,” he said.
“At the end of the day, this is for the interest of our nation and countrymen,” Cabochan said.
