Magkaaway na sa 2019? PDP-Laban disrespects coalition pact with Lakas-CMD, says Pichay

The Lakas Christian-Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) party has expressed disappointment over the status of its alliance with the ruling administration party, Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP Laban).
Deputy Speaker Prospero “Butch” Pichay (Surigao del Norte), Lakas-CMD secretary-general, said the administration party didn’t not abide with the coalition agreement it entered when it decided to field local candidates in the bailiwicks controlled by the former ruling party.
“Dapat kasi kug may coalition, ire-respeto ng ka-coalition mo na huwag maglagay sa district. But yung PDP, naglagay sila ng kandidato sa lahat ng districts. They didn’t respect the coalition,” said Pichay.
PDP and Lakas formally entered into a coalition on May 18, 2016, few days after then Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte was elected as the country’s 16th President.
The spact was witnessed by Lakas-CMD President and former Leyte Rep. Ferndinand Martin Romualdez and by PDP Laban secretary-general and now deposed House Speaker Panteleon “Bebot” Alvarez.
Pichay said the coalition agreement didn’t really happen at the first place after the ruling administration party disrespected it from the beginning by fielding candidates in the strongholds of Lakas.
“Hindi nila ni-respeto ang coalition. That means the coalition is not in effect. So pwedeng maglaban-laban ang PDP at Lakas,” said Pichay.
Last week, Lakas-CMD formally forged a coalition with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte’s Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) party in Tacloban City.
