Magkakabukingan na ba? Duterte mulls releasing ‘narco list’ of barangay execs

President Rodrigo Duterte is considering releasing the list of barangay officials who are allegedly involved in illegal drugs ahead of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on May 14.

Duterte on Friday (April 13) said he will “sleep on” the issue because of its implications on the outcome of the elections.

“I will sleep on that issue. I’ll give it a thought. I’ll sleep on it maybe sometime. Kasi I have to make sure that it does not affect the freedom of the people to elect their own leaders because this is democracy,” he said.

Duterte wanted the postponement of the barangay elections because he claimed that drug traders may fund the candidacies of bets who will protect their business.

While the polls will push through, the President said he will continue to have zero tolerance for those who engage in the illegal drug trade.

“Basta ako dito sa drugs, zero tolerance ako. There is no middle ground here. Hindi ako maglalaro sa droga,” he said.

“Magkasala ka na ng iba, magnakaw ka na lang ng eroplano diyan o, okay lang sa akin,” he added.
