Just like her brother, Bongbong, Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos has claimed credit for helping legislate the only law in the country with a provision against political dynasties.

During GMA News’ senatorial debates aired Saturday (February 9), Imee said she helped in researching the anti-political dynasty provision in the Sanggunian Kabataan (SK) Reform Act of 2015.

The governor, however, was called out by Jeff Crisostomo, the legislative and communications officer of Dinagat Islands Rep. Kaka Bag-ao.

Crisostomo has been working in the House of Representatives for the past nine years and was involved in the drafting of SK Reform Act as part of Bag-ao’s staff.

“ECHUSERA KA! Wala akong nakita o nabasang anumang ambag mo sa batas na ito!” he tweeted in response to Imee’s statement.

“Saksak mo sa baba mo ‘yang Kabataang Barangay mo, pero kailanman ay hindi mo pwedeng sabihin na bahagi ka ng laban para sa SK Reform!” he added in another tweet.

Like Imee, Crisostomo said Bongbong also claimed credit for the anti-dynasty provision in the SK Reform Act when he was a senator.

During one of the 2016 vice presidential debates, Bongbong said: “Ako lamang ang nakaharap dito sa inyo ang sumulat ng isang probisyon ng anti-dynasty sa kaisa-isang batas na napasa na may anti-dynasty provision. Iyan po, wala na pong kailangan ipaliwanag.”

In a Facebook post made in April 2016, Crisostomo said drafts of the SK Reform Act always carried an anti-dynasty provision when it was filed in past Congresses. He added that Bongbong only became a co-author of the bill when he signed the committee report for it as chair of the Senate committee on local government.

“Paano makakapagsulat ng probisyon si Marcos kung kahit mismong bill nga ay wala siyang nai-draft at na-file? Sa mga nagsasabing mayroon, paki-check po sa ibang planeta na nasa isang alternate universe. MALINAW: HINDI SI BONGBONG MARCOS ANG NAGSULAT NG ANTI-POLITICAL DYNASTY PROVISION DAHIL WALA SIYANG SK REFORM BILL,” Crisostomo’s post read.

The outspoken legislative officer said Bongbong had no chance to put in the anti-dynasty provision in the SK reform bill when it was being deliberated on by the bicameral conference committee because he was absent at the meetings.
