Senator Bong Go urged House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano Wednesday (February 26) to tackle ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal bid instead of criticizing senators for holding a hearing on the network.
Go said the name calling proves the issue surrounding ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal has become too hot for some politikos.
“Gawin na lang po natin ang trabaho natin. Unahin na lang natin interes ng bawat Filipino, bawat manggagawa. It’s either you approve or deny,” he said.
Go said it would be best for politikos– particularly those involved in ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal bid– to refrain from making unnecessary comments.
“Kaya nga po nahaluan na ng pulitika, showbiz ang usapan,” he said.
Cayetano slammed senators Monday (February 24) for supposedly sucking up to ABS-CBN through the hearing conducted by the Senate committee on public services chaired by Senator Grace Poe.
“There’s no question yung iba nagmamalasakit lang. There’s no question there are solid supporters of ABS. But yung iba OA na e. Parang doomsday na ang ginagawa para lang makapagsipsip. Hindi yun ang proseso,” he said.
In response, Poe told Cayetano that name calling “cheapens the debate.”
