Makasuhan kaya? Palace assures Jason Aquino won’t be let off the hook over NFA mess

National Food Authority Jason Aquino could still be held liable if proven guilty of wrongdoing despite his intent to resign, Malacanang said Thursday.
“I think I said yesterday that resignation of anyone, not just Jason Aquino will not extinguish criminal or administrative liabilities if there are any,” said spokesman Harry Roque Jr.
President Duterte revealed in his one-on-one interview with Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvado Panelo last Tuesday that Aquino requested to be relieved from his post. Aquino was “tired” and could not cope with several issues and controversies hounding his agency, said the chief executive.
Meanwhile Roque said he expects the Office of the Ombudsman to act on any complaint filed against the NFA chief.
“So wala naman pong ibig sabihin iyang pagre-resign, hindi naman ibig sabihin na kapag ikaw ay nag-resign, wala ng pananagutan,” he said.
“So kung mayroon pong gustong magreklamo, as I understand that the House itself has classified an act of administrator Aquino as technical malversation, I’m sure if they filed a proper complaint, it will be acted upon by the Ombudsman.”
