Make suggestions, not complaints – Palace tells LGU officials
Instead of ranting about how the Aquino government is dealing with disaster response and rehabilitation, local government officials should instead propose suggestions to national agencies on how to improve assistance to victims, a spokesperson for Malacañang said Thursday.
“Kung mayroong mga suggestion ‘yung mga local governments kung paano mapapabuti pa’ yung pagbibigay ng tulong sa mga nasalanta ay handa namang makipag-ugnayan ang ating pambansang pamahalaan,” Communications Secretary Hermino Coloma, Jr. said.
Coloma made the statement after Mayor Nelianto Bihasa of Baler, Aurora, one of the badly-hit provinces when Typhoon Lando struck, complained that they were snubbed by administration candidates Mar Roxas and Leni Robredo when the two distributed relief goods in the province.
“Parati naman nating iginigiit na sa pagtulong sa mga apektado sa kalamidad, wala namang kinikilingan at wala namang itinuturing na kulay politika hinggil dito,” he said.
President Benigno Aquino III was supposed to visit the town of Baler but instead went to Casiguran to inspect the damages caused by the typhoon.
