Malaya na! Sandiganbayan acquits Bong Revilla of plunder in pork barrel scam
Former senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. has been acquitted on plunder charges by the Sandiganbayan in connection with the multibillion-peso pork barrel scam.
Voting 3-2, the Sandiganbayan’s Special First Division said Revilla “cannot be held liable” for the alleged misuse of his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) allocation by channeling it to bogus non-government organizations created by businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles.
Revilla’s acquittal was announced Friday (December 7) by the special division created by the anti-graft court since the First Division originally handling the case were unable to come up with a decision.
The special division, however, found Napoles and Revilla’s chief of staff Richard Cambe guilty of plunder. They were both sentenced to reclusion perpetua or imprisonment of at least 30 years.
