Malinis s’ya! Duterte: Espenido inclusion in drug list ‘untrue’

President Rodrigo Duterte believes that controversial police officer Lieutenant Colonel Jovie Espenido, who led deadly operations against drug-linked politicians, is “clean,” Malacañang said.
In a statement on Friday, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo dismissed as “black propaganda” Espenido’s alleged inclusion in drug watchlist.
“There appears to be a black propaganda waged against Lt. Col. Espenido to besmirch the reputation of the latter in the eyes of [Duterte] and the Filipino nation, and to derail his unrelenting campaign against illegal drugs,” according to Panelo.
The Palace also said that Espenido, whose drug operation resulted in the killing of Ozamiz mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr. in October 2017, still enjoys Duterte’s trust.
“Lt. Col. Espenido continues to enjoy the trust and confidence of the President. [Duterte] believes that the reports of his alleged involvement in prohibited drugs are untrue,” Panelo said.
