As part of the gradual reopening of the economy, the government has allowed shopping malls to hold sale events in general community quarantine (GCQ) and modified GCQ areas.
“Business establishments and malls may hold activities to spur consumer and economic activity, subject to the DTI (Department of Trade and Industry) guidelines in the operations of malls and shopping malls,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement Friday.
Last May, the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases banned malls sales and marketing events as part of precautionary measures against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
Meanwhile, the IATF also authorized the DTI to adjust the permissible operational capacities of all business establishments and activities under GCQ or lower.
