Manhunt for fugitive GCTA surrenderees to resume in October- Guevarra

The manhunt against released convicts who failed to surrender will resume this October, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said on Thursday (Sept. 26).

Guevarra pointed this out as the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) will release by the end of the September a “cleaned up” list containing the names of freed heinous crimes convicts who did not heed the call of President Rodrigo Duterte to surrender.

“By September 30 for sure meron kaming ilalabas para maibigay sa DILG (Department of Interior and Local Government), sa PNP (Philippine National Police) so that they can start hunting them,” he told reporters.

The BuCor earlier released a list which contained the names of convicts who were released because of good conduct time allowance (GCTA).

However, Duterte ordered those in the list to surrender due to concerns that unqualified inmates including those convicted of heinous crimes were among those released.
