Manila Water, Maynilad bilyonaryos may be jailed pending trial on non-bailable estafa complaint, Roque says

Former Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque is gearing up for the legal battle against the bilyonaryos behind the two Metro Manila water concessionaires.

Roque recently accepted President Duterte’s challenge to sue the two companies over the alleged onerous water concession contracts.

In his Tribune column shared on Facebook, he said the water companies may face charges for syndicated estafa, a non-bailable offense.”

He said these firms have “continued collection of environmental fees intended to build water treatment facilities without actually building such facilities, resulting in the pollution of Manila Bay.”

“Clearly, this is the case of action where the billionaires behind the water utility companies may spend time in jail while pending trial. If this happens, then President Duterte would prove beyond all doubt that he is serious in implementing the law, especially against the high and powerful. Bravo Mr. President! I accept your challenge!” he said.
