Mar: UNA, not for

41

The United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) is not for “Daang Matuwid”, according to Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Sec. Mar Roxas.

Roxas made the statement through his Facebook page Sunday night, August 10, in response to the rumored alliance of Liberal Party (LP) and UNA or Binay-Roxas (BiRo) tandem come the 2016 presidential election.

“Napakalinaw naman na hanggang ngayon, salungat na salungat ang agenda ng UNA sa agenda ng Daang Matuwid na siyang itinataguyod ng LP. Halimbawa, sa Corona impeachment, sa pag-prosecute sa mga nagnakaw ng PDAF, sa DAP at budget reforms, kinontra at kinuwestyon ng UNA ang mga isinulong ni P-Noy at LP,”  he pointed out.

Roxas said he will do what is best for the country’s interest.

“Hindi yung mga pabugso-bugso na usapang pulitika, pag-postura o pang-sariling ambisyon lamang,” he added.

Roxas explained that the issue is not about him or Vice President Jejomar Binay but about strengthening and continuation of the “straight path” reform agenda of President Noynoy Aquino.

“Si P-Noy na nagsabi, and I quote, ‘Kung pipili man tayo, pipili tayo ng taong walang katiting na duda” na magpapatuloy ng kanyang programa at malinis na pamamahala.’

Roxas went on to say that they in LP are fully committed in Aquino’s leadershiip and platform, anti-corruption agenda, and covenant to the Filipino people whom Aquino referred to as his “bosses”.

“In other words, committed kami sa lahat na programa na sinasakop ng Tuwid na Daan,” he said. “Finally, matibay ang pagkakaisa namin sa LP, at kasama ako dito, na susuporta at maninindigan sa kandidato ni PNoy sa 2016 (ako man iyon o hindi).”
