Maraming pera, galamay: Bato tags Bilibid drug lords as mastermind behind BuCor legal chief’s slay
Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa believes drug lords inside the New Bilibid Prison are likely behind the ambush of Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) legal division chief Fredric Anthony Santos.
Dela Rosa, a former BuCor chief, said drug lords have the means to kill people even if they are behind bars.
“Madami ‘yang pera. Madami ‘yang galamay sa labas,” he said.
Dela Rosa said the detained drug lords are capable of threatening lawyers and judges, and “could buy your life.”
“Pinapatay ang mga abogado dahil nga hindi nila makuha ang kanilang kagustuhan, but they have the money,” he said.
Santos was on his way to pick up his child at school on board a pick-up truck Wednesday (February 19) when he was gunned down in Barangay Poblacion, around 100 meters away from the main gate of the New Bilibid Prison.
The lawyer testified at the Senate hearing last year on the controversy surrounding the misapplication of the Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) Law.
He was suspended by the Office of the Ombudsman in September 2019 over the GCTA mess.
