Vice President Leni Robredo has been permitted by the Supreme Court (SC), sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), to get digital copies of the 2016 election results from three piloted provinces being contested by former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Maros Jr.
The PET has issued a resolution which granted Robredo’s request “to secure soft copies of the ballot images and other reports from decrypted secured digital cards.”
The soft copies of digital cards sought by Robredo are from Camarines Sur, Iloilo and Negros Oriental, the three pilot provinces designated by Marcos for his election protest.
Meanwhile, Robredo’s camp expressed gratitude to the PET for granting her request.
“We welcome the PET’s decision because it will provide us with additional blanket of security to the votes received by VP Leni as they decrypt the contents of the SD cards,” said her lawyer Romulo Macalintal.
