Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Wednesday (Oct. 28) has identified a number of government agencies that his task force will initially focus in its corruption investigation.
“Siguro uunahin muna namin yung mga ahensya sa national level na talagang medyo prone sa corruption,” he said in a radio interview on DZBB.
“Alam naman natin kung ano ang mga ahensya na ito na talagang madalas na nagkakaroon ng mga corruption activities,” he noted.
Guevarra revealed that the agencies which will be initially subjected for corruption investigation includes the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Bureau of Customs (BOC), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), and Land Registration Authority (LRA).
He noted that the task force will continue its investigation at the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).
Also, Guevarra pointed out that significant strides have been undertaken to address corruption at the Bureau of Immigration (BI) and Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).
The secretary recognize the herculean task set to him by President Rodrigo Duterte to reduce corruption in government.
“Parang mission impossible na itong assignment na ito, cleaning up the entire government, ridding it of corruption,” he said.
Because of this, he pointed out that task force which is led by the Department of Justice (DOJ) will prioritize what corrupt activities to investigate.
“Ayon doon sa memorandum na inisyu ng Presidente sa akin i-consider ng task force yung gravity or magnitude nung anomalya o nung corrupt activity,” he said.
“Nabanggit din doon sa memo yung possible impact on the delivery of government service to be considered in choosing kung alin ang iimbestigahan nitong task force,” he added.
