Master Spy: Duterte explains why he can never be a close friend of Año
President Rodrigo Duterte is open about preferring to surround himself with ex-generals rather than civilians in his Cabinet.
Duterte said that not only do they follow orders without question or debate, he could trust all of them as a friend.
Except for Interior Secretary Eduardo Año.
He cannot — he can never be a close friend to you,” said Duterte.
“Why?
The 58-year old retired general Año used to be the Commander of the Intelligence and Security Group of the Philippine Arm and the Chief of the Intelligence Service Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Known as “rebel hunter”, he was responsible for the arrest of the Communist Party of the Philippines’ top brass Benito and Wilma Tiamzon in 2014 and the death of New People’s Army Commander Leonardo Pitao, alias “Kumander Prago.”
