Sen. Panfilo Lacson sees no problem with the government’s lifting of the ban on non-essential travel by Filipinos amid the continued COVID-19 pandemic.

But Lacson said he still does not see the lifting of the ban as encouraging non-essential travel by Filipinos, at least at this time.

“As long as conditions are complied with and protocols are strictly observed, particularly on quarantine procedures upon their return to the country, I can see no problem with the lifting of the suspension on non-essential travel by Filipinos,” he said in a statement.

Malacanang earlier this week announced the lifting of a ban on non-essential travel by Filipinos.

But when asked if this would encourage Filipinos to travel, Lacson said he does not think so.

“I do not see this encouraging Filipinos to travel. Who would be encouraged to travel in the middle of a worldwide pandemic?” he said.
