Senator Panfilo Lacson is opposed to the planned inquiry of the United Nations Human Rights Council into the alleged abuses related to the bloody anti-drug crackdown in the country.

Lacson took to Twitter to highlight the country’s working justice system to deal with any abusive cop involved in the war on drugs.

“We have a functioning criminal justice system that deals with erring law enforcers. We regularly provide our Human Rights Commission the budget they need to perform their mandate. Obviously, we can manage without the intervention of the UN Human Rights Council,” he tweeted.

The United Nations Human Rights Council announced it would investigate alleged crimes committed in government’s war on drugs. It has passed a resolution seeking a detailed written report on allegations of extrajudicial killings, forced disappearances and arbitrary arrests in the Philippines’ drug war.

The passage of the Iceland-led measure drew the condemnation of the Philippine government.
