May seminar para sa kanila: Sotto offers help to new senators
Presumptive senators Bato dela Rosa, Bong Go, and Francis Tolentino need not worry about the “ins and outs” of legislative work as they will be assisted by the Senate secretariat.
Senate President Tito Sotto made this assurance after Dela Rosa asked whether there are seminars he can attend to help him familiarize with legislative process.
In a television interview, Dela Rosa said, “Ewan ko kung may seminar dyan. O, ano bang training dyan para matutunan ko para gawin yung batas. I’ll take the opportunity para matuto ako, para mapag-aralan ko ‘yung mga actions.”
“The Senate Secretariat is always ready to assist the new senators anytime upon request/instruction, as they always do every time there is a new member of the Senate,” Sotto said in a text message.
“The Secretariat will also conduct an orientation and training on the Senate legislative process to the staff of the senators as soon as they are hired,” he said.
Sen. Ping Lacson said, “We will be meeting with the new members and give them some tips or lectures as was done to my batch in 2001.
“Bato need not worry. He will undergo another period of plebehood under my supervision since we are both in the majority bloc,” Lacson said.
Lacson and Dela Rosa were both graduates of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA).
