Anakalusugan Rep. Michael Defensor said policemen ‘visited’ a resident of Quezon City who was helping him distribute free human grade Ivermectin.
Out of fear, Defensor said the resident, who is a former Barangay captain left his residence.
“Pinuntahan nga itong tao and tinatanong sa kanya kung kanino siya nagbigay ng Ivermectin, number one. Number two, tinatanong sa kanya kung may mga adverse incident about the Ivermectin distribution. And then nung huli, pinapapirma siya ng isang statement, which he declined to do. Hindi niya po pinayagan yung pagpirma ng statement,” Defensor said.
Defensor was able to get the name of the officer of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) who visited the resident but refused to reveal it as of the moment.
“Yes, I already have the name of the person. Pag-uusapan pa namin kung ano yung action na iti-take regarding this, dahil talagang napaka hirap. Sa gitna ng problema… ito naman hindi naman namin ibinebenta, binibigay namin, para bang iniipit pa,” he added.
Defensor said he is ready to face any legal action by the police or the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for advocating for the use and free distribution of Ivermectin.
“To be clear about it, I know na darating itong panahon na ito and iipitin nila, and I’ve been ready for that and because of that, talagang sinundan ko pa rin lahat nung legal procedures nila. Pero beside, despite of it, talagang ginigipit nila yung mga tao,” Defensor stressed.
The solon vowed to double his effect to distribute free Ivermectin to those who needed it.
“Ako naniniwala sa efficacy nito, marami itong natulungan. Siguro for the past several weeks, maraming nagsasabi sakin na natulungan sila nung mild, nung sila ay magkasakit,” he said.
