Military-looking men spotted in POGO hubs raises security concerns, says Nograles

Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta (PBA) Party-list Rep. Jericho Nograles has voiced concerns over the reported sightings of “military-looking” Chinese nationals in various hubs being operated by the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO).
In an interview with CNN Philippines, Nograles said a high-ranking defense official told him about the presence of “military-aged” personnel in various POGO hubs.
“That is something of concern,” said Nograles.
Nograles stressed that the alleged presence of Chinese military personnel in several POGO hubs can compromise the country’s national security especially that many of those were built near vital installations such as airports and military camps.
“POGO hubs near military hubs, example Mckinley Hill in Taguig close to Army Headquarters and also Mckinley West right beside… why are these POGOs located near these strategic areas,” said Nograles.
Nograles said authorities shouldn’t allow POGO operators to put up their facilities in security-risk areas.
“We should stay away from sensitive areas like AFP and our security-risk areas. We must be more sensitive to that,” said Nograles.
“I don’t think this issue was relevant when they developed Mckinley West or all of these other developments it’s just more obvious now because of the increase of a single nationality there,” he added.
