Mind your own house! Suarez chides Pacquiao for meddling in Speakership race

Outgoing House Minority Floor Leader Danilo Suarez is displeased with the supposed meddling of boxer-turned Senator Manny Pacquiao in the Speakership row.
Suarez made the statement in a press conference on Tuesday after learning that the eight-division boxing champ was acting as mediator among the three Speaker-wannabes from the ruling PDP Laban party.
Suarez was puzzled why the meeting of aspiring speakers from the ruling party, including reelected Representatives Lord Allan Jay Velasco (Marinduqe), Aurelio “Dong” Mendoza, and former House Speaker Pantaleon “Bebot” Alvarez, should take place at the crib of the reigning welterweight champion inside Forbes Park.
“Bakit kay Senator Pacquiao sila magmi-meet? I’m just surprised. Why don’t they just meet at the PDP office. Why does it have to be in the residence (of Sen. Manny)?” Suarez asked.
Politiko first reported last week that Pacquiao, who served as overall campaign manager of PDP last May 13 polls, will try to convince his three partymates to set aside their differences and just rally behind a single candidate so that the Speakership will remain with ruling party this coming 18th Congress.
The Quezon solon stressed that he could not find the logic why Pacquiao was trying to mediate in the Speakership row considering that House solons didn’t mind to interfere, not even a second during their talks when the boxer-turned politiko “resolved” the issues surrounding Senate leadership last week.
“Hindi naman kami (congressmen) nakikialam kung sino Senate President,” said Suarez.
He further elaborated that “the decision of who will lead the House should be with the (House) members” only.
