Mindanao-based congressmen have condemned the brutal murder of state auditor Guiaria Akmad recently.
House Deputy Speaker and Surigao del Sur Rep. Johnny Pimentel said Akmad’s death had “something to do” with her job in the Commission on Audit (COA)
“Yes, I think it is work related. This is not the first time that this kind of incident has happened in BARMM,” said Pimentel.
Akmad, senior state auditor assigned in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), was inside a car with her husband, when shot by the passenger of a motorcycle as they were driving out of the City Mall car park along Barangay Rosary Heights in Cotabato City on Friday.
According to Pimentel, state auditors are afraid to be assigned to BARMM for fear of being harmed for doing their job.
Politiko learned that just recently, the Commission on Audit released a final ruling on a multi-milion peso notice of disallowance that was issued by auditors in the former Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, the predecessor of BARMM.
The inside claimed that the death of Akhmad has something to do with anomalous government transactions she probably uncovered prior to her brutal killing.
Deputy Speaker and Basilan Rep. Mujiv Hataman, former governor of the defunct ARMM, also condemned the brutal slaying of Akmad and urged police to leave no stones unturned in determining the killers and the mastermind behind Akmad’s murder.
“My prayers are for Auditor Akmad and her family, may justice be served. The perpetrators of this dastardly murder must pay for their crime,” said Hataman.
Meanwhile, Hataman also urged concerned quarters to avoid speculating on the death of Akmad, saying that it would be best for everybody to “await for the result of proper police investigation” into the killing.
