Former Presidential Communications Operations Office Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson on Tuesday addressed a joint House panel hearing proposals to create a Department of Overseas Foreign Workers (OFWs).
In her brief statement, the controversial Duterte supporter said lawmakers should walk their talk in upholding the welfare of OFWs.
“Bagong bayani ang mga OFWs, pero parang bayani lang sila tuwing eleksyon!” she told the House committees on government reorganization and overseas workers.
Uson recalled her participation in presidential foreign trips when she was still in PCOO.
“Nakakasalamuha ko po mga OFW. May mga shelter, nakakakulong. Mga Pilipino rin po sila, inaapi na po sila sa ibang bansa, sana pagdating dito sila ay maproteksyonan,” she said.
Uson also said the House should not just hold hearings but also make sure the bill is passed into law.
“Wag lang po sana puro hearing, sana po ay matuloy na ito,” she said.
