Morales ‘dedma’ on GMA as Speaker but frustrated she failed to nail ex-President in plunder case
Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales swore she did not feel anything when former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was sworn in as Speaker on July 23.
In her media swan song, Morales said: “I was ‘dedma’. Thats the pleasure of the members of Congress to elect her as House Speaker I didn’t feel anything.”
The Ombdusman lost the plunder case it filed against Arroyo for her alleged pilferage of P366 million from the Confidential and Intelligence Fund (CIF) of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office from 2008 to 2010.
In July 2016, the SC voted 11-4 dismissing and acquitting Arroyo of the plunder charges.
Morales sounded frustrated that she was unable to nail Arroy in the plunder case.
“She never had the burden of coming out to controvert the evidence because the case was nipped in the bud, so to speak,” said Morales.
Morales, who was appointed to a seven-year term in 2011, will retire on July 26.
