More choices! JBC recommends 32 candidates to Duterte for 8 CA seats

The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) has recommended to President Rodrigo Duterte 32 candidates who could fill eight vacant seats at the Court of Appeals (CA).

The JBC submitted the list on Monday (Jan. 21) after having screened 67 nominees vying for the post.

The 32 names submitted to Duterte are Imelda M. Abadilla Brown, Philip Acosta Aguinaldo, Selma Palacio Alaras, Anisah B. Amanodin Umpa, Henry Sumaway Angeles, Edgar Oandasan Aricheta, Lorenza Redulla Bordios, Celilyn E. Burgos Villavert, Divinagracia G. Bustos Ongkeko, Emmanuel Claudio Carpio, Gler Bautista Corpin Jr., Rowena Dela Cruz De Juan Quinagoran, Jose Lorenzo Relova Dela Rosa, Amado Paolo Calinog Dimayuga, Olivia V. Escubio Samar, Wilhelmina B. Jorge Wagan, Raymond Reynold Reyes Lauigan, Mary Josephine Dela Pena Lazaro, Robert Nomar Varona Leyretana, Virgilio Valdez Macaraig, Richard Daniot Mordeno, Mia Joy C. Oallares Cawed; Jennifer Joy Chua Ong, Michael Pastores Ong, Bonifacio Sison Pascua, Rex Bernardo Leano Pascual, Roberto Patdu Quiroz, Felix Padua Reyes, Nancy C. Rivas Palmones, Rosanna Fe A. Romero Maglaya, Emily L. San Gaspar Gito, and Maria Bernardita Javier Santos.

Among the eight empty seats, four were vacated upon the appointments of Justices Ramon Paul Hernando, Rosmari Carrandang, Henri Jean Paul Inting and Amy Lazaro-Javier to the Supreme Court.

While the rest were vacated by retired CA justices Normandie Pizarro, Carmelita Manahan and Sesinando Villon.
