Mukhang alalay ni Xi! Cayetano tries on Mao-inspired barong for SEA Game
Chinese President Xi Jinping would be proud if he saw the Barong Tagalog that House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano will wear for the upcoming Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
Cayetano gave a sneek peek of the barongs he will wear for the SEA Games during his visit Sunday (November 25) to the World Trade Center in Pasay City to check on the preparations for the athletic meeting.
Photos posted of Cayetano’s visit showed him trying on an off white barong embroidered with the sun as depicted in the Philippine flag.
What’s more interesting, however, is Cayetano’s black barong, which features a Chinese collar. Wearing it, the Speaker could be mistaken for a high-ranking official of China’s Communist Party.
According to the reports, the barongs were designed by Rajo Laurel.
Meanwhile, PHISGOC Chairman Alan Peter Cayetano and Vice Chairman Abraham Tolentino fit their outfit for the gala and opening of #2019SEAGames. Both are designed by Rajo Laurel. 🇵🇭 #SEAGames2019 | via @isay_reyes pic.twitter.com/gD19ELPyVX
