Three people have been charged with murder in connection with the twin killings of journalist Jupiter Gonzales and his friend, Christopher Tiongson, the Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) said.
During the 67th anniversary of the National Press Club (NPC), PTFoMS executive director Usec. Joel Sy-Egco said charges of double murder have been against Armando Velasco, Edgardo Cabrera and a “John Doe” before the Pampanga Prosecutors Office in San Fernando City.
Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, who co-chairs the PTFoMS, congratulated the PTFoMS staff, its agents, and the local police for the quick resolution of the twin slays.
“I congratulate the PTFoMS, the PNP (Philippine National Police) and everyone who worked hard in accomplishing the mission this early. We are indeed very grateful for your work,” said Andanar.
Last October 20, Gonzales, a columnist for the tabloid Remate and a member of the NPC, and Tiongson were shot dead inside their car apparently over a heated argument involving the perya operation. A closed-circuit television camera footage captured the incident.
