My lips are sealed! Robredo assures she won’t spill sensitive info amid Duterte threat
Vice President Leni Robredo has assured President Rodrigo Duterte and other administration officials that she won’t reveal sensitive information related to the drug war.
Robredo made the assurance Monday (November 18) after President Rodrigo Duterte threatened to fire her if she disclosed confidential information that could put national security at risk.
“Iyong assurance naman, lahat na sensitive information, hindi idi-disclose,” she told reporters at the sidelines of the Senate plenary debates on the Office of the Vice President’s proposed 2020 budget.
Duterte threatened to fire Robredo if she lets any confidential information slip as co-chairperson of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD).
Classified matters cannot be shared. Once [she does] that, she’s out, I would fire her. Because you jeopardized the security of the state,” he told GMA News last week.
Robredo has asked the Philippine National Police for the list of high-profile targets in the drug war. The police, however, said it will heed the decision of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on the matter.
