Na-pressure kasi nag-viral! Ateneo kicks out bully in violent videos
The Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU) has decided to dismiss the junior high school student caught bullying other boys on video.
ADMU president Fr. Jett Villarin shared the school administration’s decision in a statement Sunday (December 23), days after the videos of the bully became viral online.
“After a thorough investigation that included listening to all parties involved, the decision of the administration is to impose the penalty of dismissal on the student caught bullying another student in the comfort room of the school. This means that he is no longer allowed to come back to the Ateneo,” Villarin said.
The ADMU president said he has talked to the parents of the bully and his victim and have offered them support.
The school is also continuing its investigation on matter related to the incident, Villarin added.
ADMU came under intense pressure to sanction the bully after videos of him bullying other students became viral.
In one video, he was shown kicking and punching a student inside the school’s comfort room until the latter’s student broke.
There were also videos of the bully punching a bilyonaryo’s son at an open field behind a school building, and him pressuring a student to say “bobo ako” on camera.
The bully was identified as a taekwondo practitioner and a member of the school’s varsity team.
Following the viral incidents of bullying, Villarin said he has created a task force “to conduct a comprehensive study of the current situation” and “ensure an independent audit of our present measures and systems” so that recommendations for the creation of a bully-free environment could be made.
