Nag-emote! Duterte admits having low morale, feeling desperate, near tears
President Rodrigo Duterte looked like he was carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders when he faced Navy officials during their anniversary at Sangley Point, Cavite on June 17.
Duterte admitted that he felt sad for letting down Filipinos on his promise to wipe out corruption and drugs after three years in office. He thought he could do it when he made those promises during the campaign in 2016 but now that he was in power, he realized that he 1987 Constitution prevented him from having his way like he did as Davao City mayor.
“Ano ako ‘yung medyo low morale ako ngayon,” Duterte confessed during the speech in which he only cursed three times and did not talk about his penis.
He slipped out his despair in snippets during the speech: “I have a duty that is a burden — sometimes more than I can carry. I can — I almost cry.”
“Kaya ako almost desperado na.” “Kaya sabi ko nawalaan na ako ng gana.”
“At totoo sabihin ko nagsisi ako kasi akala ko within the
constitutional powers na ibinigay sa akin.” “Ako, I can maybe just hang on because three years na lang ako. But ubusin ko na lang itong lahat.”
