Nag-uwi rin ng ginto! Migz Zubiri seeks commendation for Pinoy SEA Games kickboxers
Filipino kickboxers, not just arnis athletes, also delivered sterling performance in the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, prompting the Senate to commend them.
Senator Migz Zubiri introduced Senate Resolution No. 265 recognizing the Philippine National Kickboxing Team for winning a total of six medals – three golds, two silvers and one bronze.
“The members of the Philippine Kickboxing Team had sacrificed a lot, giving their hearts and souls in the exhaustive trainings in several foreign territories and their sacrifices and hard works did not go to waste,” Zubiri said.
“The honor and glory brought by the national team for kickboxing deserves the commendation not only of the Senate but the Filipino nation as well,” he said.
Zubiri and Senator Bong Go, who co-sponsored the resolution, also lauded their colleague, Senator Francis “Tol” Tolentino, for helping in the initial preparation of the team for the 30th SEA Games.
“Your leadership and dedication has been instrumental in the victory of our team,” Go told Tolentino in his speech.
“Bagamat hindi lang ang ating bansa ang kinikilala ng mundo bilang tahanan ng kickboxing, kahanga-hanga naman po ang naging performance ng Philippine team,” Go said.
Zubiri said that Tolentino, who is the president of the Samahang Kickboxing ng Pilipinas (SKP), helped in training the athletes.
“Truly, kickboxing deserves these accolades for its sterling performance in the 30th SEA Games,” Zubiri said.
