Naghanap ng kakampi! Robredo wants CBCP, private sector’s help vs. drugs
Vice President Leni Robredo wants to tap civil society groups and the private sector to help the government in its campaign against illegal drugs.
Robredo on Saturday (November 16) said she is planning to meet with officials from the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) to discuss how they can help in the war on drugs.
She said the idea to meet with CBCP came to her after a meeting with officials from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), where they talked about the initiative called “Ugnayan ng Barangay at Simbahan.”
“Ngayon, iyong mga may active na UBAS, ang ganda ng… ang ganda ng anti-illegal drugs campaign nila. So tinitingnan namin na doon kami papasok,” Robredo told reporters in Camarines Sur.
The Vice President, who is the co-chairperson of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD) said she wants CBCP’s help to reactivate UBAS.
Robredo said she also wants the private sector to help in the anti-drug campaign so civil society groups can coordinate their strategy with DILG.
“Sa side namin, ito iyong ginagawa namin ngayon: gawan ng platform iyong mga private organizations to engage with DILG, para isa lang iyong… isa lang iyong strategy na sinusunod,” she said.
