Nagpatulong lang! Lucio Tan clarifies Bong Go’s role in COVID-19 donations

Taipan Lucio Tan said he only sought Senator Bong Go’s help in sending donations for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) frontliners, amid rumors that help had to be coursed through President Rodrigo Duterte’s former aide.

Tan’s holding firm, LT Group Inc., issued a statement Thursday (April 2) explaining why its donation of 400 face masks to a Bacoor hospital had Go’s name on it.

The label said the donations were from “Senator Bong Go thru Lucio Tan Group of Companies and PMFTC Inc.”

“Due to numerous requests for assistance we have received, we have asked guidance from the Office of Senator Bong Go, in his capacity as chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, in identifying beneficiaries which in this instance are the medical frontliners in Cavite,” LT Group said.

Tan’s company said it was “unfortunate” that Go is being cast in a negative light over the donations when the senator was allegedly clueless about the labels on the medical supplies.

“The most important priority is to help the country and for everybody to come together as one. We will continue to support our country’s fight against the coronavirus in whatever way we can,” the LT Group said.
