Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General Gerald Bantag confirmed on Monday (Sept. 21) that he has the COVID-19 virus.
Despite this, Bantag said he decided to quarantine himself at his quarters at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).
“May quarters naman ako dito,” said Bantag who received the results of his polymerase chain reachtion (PCR) test on Monday.
“Wala pa naman gamot yan. Vitamins na lang siguro,” he said about the medications he will take.
Prior learning that he has COVID-19, Bantag said he has experienced symptoms of the disease.
“Nag chills ako 2 nights. Nagkaron ako ng konting ubo. Konti lang naman manakanaka tapos may headache ako,” he disclosed.
The BuCor chief believes he may have gotten the virus from his close in staff who have tested positive from COVID-19.
“Nauna yung driver at close in ko nag positive,” he said.
Prior this, BuCor Spokesperson Gabriel Chaclag said last Saturday (Sept. 19) he also tested positive for COVID-19.
