Nakarating pati sa sugbo! Robredo’s office provides free shuttle service, dorms in Cebu for Bayanihan Sugbuanon initiative amid COVID-19
The Office of Vice President Leni Robredo has launched a free shuttle service for health workers and frontliners in Cebu in a bid to alleviate the plight of Cebuanos amid the rising cases of COVID-19 the province.
In a Facebook post, Robredo’s office said its buses have served their first trip early Monday (July 6), plying three routes covering some of the major hospitals in Metro Cebu.
This is part of the OVP’s COVID-19 Response Operations called Bayanihan Sugbuanon, which Robredo initiated to address the needs of health workers as Cebu becomes one of the COVID-19 hotspots in the country.
Last March, the OVP launched a similar initiative in Metro Manila, ferrying more than 11,000 frontliners to their workplaces in hospitals and other institutions. It lasted for 26 days.
Also under Bayanihan Sugbuanon is the provision of free dormitories for Cebuano frontliners. The OVP announced on Sunday that with the help of its partners, it would open its first dormitory near North General Hospital in Brgy. Banilad in Cebu City.
“Our dorm is open for health workers, medical practitioners, and other frontliners involved in offering essential services amid the COVID-19 crisis,” the OVP said.
“Because of limited space in line with physical distancing and other safety measures, requests will be accommodated on a first come, first served basis,” it added.
In Metro Manila, the OVP was also able to put up 12 dormitories through the help of its partners, providing accommodations for more than 500 health workers and frontliners.
