If labor group Bukluran ng Manggagawang Pilipino (BMP) will have its way, neophyte partylist representative, Alfred de los Santos of Ang Probinsyano should not be allowed to set foot at Batasang Pambansa.

De los Santos won a seat in the House solely on the back of the massive popularity of the teleserye, “Ang Probinsyano”, and the endorsement of its biggest stars Coco Martin and Yassi Pressman. Both Martin and Pressman have not spoken about de los Santos’ bullying.

De los Santos was caught in a viral video punching in the face Christian Kent Alejano, a waiter of Biggs restaurant in Legazpi City on Sunday.

DE Guzman said de los Santos’ action showed how low he “views and treats lowly workers.”

“They (abusive politikos like de los Santos) are mindlessly drowning in power and influence that they are completely detached from ordinary people, from the very people they owe for their status in society,” said de Guzman.

“We can no longer watch idly as they flaunt their social rank on ordinary people even accuse the waiter of staring at the lawmaker when he was merely
performing his duties. De los Santos acts as if he is a demigod that the hoi polloi cannot look at him for they are unworthy of his presence,” he added.

Bukluran is asking the House ethics committee to “raise the bar of moral fortitude for all elected and appointed state officials…these abuses will not stop unless we hold them accountable and drastically impose more severe penalties.”
